Trans-diagnostic vulnerability factors underlying emotional disorders: intolerance of uncertainty and emotional dysregulation. Cross-cultural differences in intolerance of uncertainty and emotional dysregulation in non clinical and clinical populations.
Dimensional models of personality disorders: maladaptive personality traits (DSM-5 Section III Alternative Model for Personality Disorders) and psychopathy (Triarchic Model of Psychopathy) in non clinical and clinical populations.
Assessment and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive related disorders (relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, and body dysmorphic disorder).
Association between coping strategies and psychological distress in clinical populations (eg. substance use disorders), health diseases (eg. patients with Neurofibromatosis type 1, Type 1 diabetes), and stressful events (eg. Covid-19 pandemic).
Thesis proposals
1. The necessary conditions for developing depressive and anxiety symptoms in non-clinical adolescents.
2. Intolerance of uncertainty, fear of missing out and related constructs in non-clinical adult and adolescent samples.
3. Association between positive and negative body image and eating behaviours in non-clinical adolescents and their parents.
4. Cyberchondria and associated psychological features in non-clinical adult samples.
5. Impact of illness on the mental health of patients and caregivers (e.g., uncertainty in illness).
6. Psychological health during the perinatal period and validation of the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale in fathers.
7. Association between transdiagnostic factors and psychopathological symptoms in non-clinical populations, towards determining clinical cutoffs.
