Research Area

Trans-diagnostic vulnerability factors underlying emotional disorders: intolerance of uncertainty and emotional dysregulation. Cross-cultural differences in intolerance of uncertainty and emotional dysregulation in non clinical and clinical populations.

Dimensional models of personality disorders: maladaptive personality traits (DSM-5 Section III Alternative Model for Personality Disorders) and psychopathy (Triarchic Model of Psychopathy) in non clinical and clinical populations.

Assessment and treatment of generalized anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive related disorders (relationship obsessive-compulsive disorder, trichotillomania, and body dysmorphic disorder).

Association between coping strategies and psychological distress in clinical populations (eg. substance use disorders), health diseases (eg. patients with Neurofibromatosis type 1, Type 1 diabetes), and stressful events (eg. Covid-19 pandemic).

Thesis proposals

1. The relation between Criterion A (personality functioning) and Criterion B (maladaptive personality traits) of the DSM-5 Alternative Model of Personality Disorders: A longitudinal study on non-clinical samples of emerging adults

2. The trajectories of emotion dysregulation in adolescence: A systematic literature review

3. The relation between maladaptive personality traits, boredom, and emotion dysregulation: A cross-sectional study on non-clinical samples of adolescents

4. The role of worry in interoceptive imbalance during minor psychosocial stressors: A psychophysiological study with ecological measures in non-clinical adolescent and young adult populations

5. Impact of illness on the mental health of patients and caregivers (e.g., uncertainty in illness)

6. Association between transdiagnostic factors and psychopathological symptoms in non-clinical populations, towards determining clinical cutoffs
