Matteo Ardit is an Associate Professor of Mineralogy at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padova.He earned his degree in Geological Sciences in 2005 and, after one year as a scientific collaborator at the Mineralogy Museum of the same university, served as a research fellow at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Ferrara, until 2008.In 2012, he completed a PhD in Mineralogy and Crystallography at the University of Ferrara, defending a thesis entitled "Lattice relaxation in solid solutions: long-range vs. short-range structure around Cr³⁺ and Co²⁺ in oxides and silicates." During his doctoral studies and subsequent post-doctoral research, he carried out part of his research as a visiting reseacher at several international institutions, including: o the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research (Stuttgart, Germany, 2011), o the Clay Mineral Research Lab, Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Indiana University (Bloomington, USA, 2017), o the Department of Mineralogy at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (Stockholm, Sweden, 2018).From 2019 to 2022, he held a fixed-term position (RTD-b) at the Department of Physics and Earth Sciences, University of Ferrara, and was appointed Associate Professor in March 2022. In 2024, he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) for Full Professor in Mineralogy.Since 2008, he has supervised or co-supervised the thesis and internship activities of 29 students.He received two awards for his doctoral thesis and, in 2014, was awarded the "Ugo Panichi" Prize by the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology (SIMP) for his significant scientific contributions to the field of mineralogical sciences.Advisor to the Presidential Council of the Società Italiana di Mineralogia e Petrografia (SIMP; 2024-2026)Member of the Executive Board of the Gruppo Nazionale di Mineralogia (GNM; 2022-2027)
