The Tax identification number is the identification tool for citizens in their dealings with public bodies and administrations.

The request for a Tax identification number for non-resident international students, and lecturers must be submitted by staff belonging to Departments, Centers, or facilities of the University who have an @unipd.it email address through the dedicated online form (in the side menu select "Documents" and then "Tax Identification Number (TIN) request for non-residents").
Correctly completed and submitted requests are forwarded to a Single collection point, identified as the Global Engagement Office of the International Relations Area, which is responsible for periodically forwarding them to the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency) and for following the subsequent process.

The unified operating procedure for requesting the assignment of a Tax identification number from the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency) - Provincial Directorate of Padua, pursuant to the memorandum of understanding signed between the Agency and the University, aims to simplify and facilitate the issuing of the Tax identification number to international female students and lecturers affiliated with the University of Padua, without the need to go to the counters of the territorial offices of the Agenzia delle Entrate – Provincial Directorate of Padua.

The email account to which requests for the assignment of new Tax identification numbers and any requests for information or clarification, according to the procedure defined by the guidelines, should be sent is richiesta.codici.fiscali@unipd.it.

Before submitting the request, Departments must carefully verify that an Italian Tax identification number has not already been assigned to the persons for whom the procedure is to be activated. This check helps avoid overloading the Agenzia delle Entrate with requests that are not strictly necessary. If the guest does not remember whether they already have a Tax identification number, proceed by generating a Tax identification number with a simulator (for example https://codicefiscale.it ) and then checking, through the Agenzia delle Entrate website, whether the Tax identification number is valid, since it has likely already been issued. On the dedicated page of the Agenzia delle Entrate website, proceed with the verification by clicking on "Tax code verification for individuals or entities other than individuals". If the system does not recognize the Tax identification number as valid, proceed with the request for a Tax identification number through the dedicated form.
