Rankings of the best universities in the world, prepared by one of the most prestigious international ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE), is online as of today, September 2, 2021. Compared to the previous edition, the University of Padua improved its positioning between the best 201st and 250th placed universities globally and moving from fifth to fourth best universities in Italy.
The quality of the result should also be assessed against the increase in the number of universities evaluated, from 1,527 to 1,662 worldwide and from 49 to 51 nationally.

The University improved its overall profile score derived by THE's five indicators. The University moved up 15 positions due to results obtained in the Teaching indicator, passing 207th to 192nd place. Then 12 positions in Research, passing 320th to 308th place. In Citations, we moved up 11 positions, passing 289th to 278th place. For Industry Income, although starting from a particularly critical overall position, there is a commendable improvement that bodes well for the future with a gain of 64 positions, passing 780th to 716th place. However, the area of internationalization remains less positive. Despite improvements in the scores obtained and originated by our increased percentage of foreign students, our University has fallen from 616th to 642nd place.

The University moved up from a 301-350 ranged position in 2016 evaluated against 844 universities to the current ranged position in 201-250 evaluated against 1662 universities. These results confirm the value of the programs launched over the past six years, supporting the quality of research and teaching while highlighting the increased ability to attract funds and financing from the business world. In terms of internationalization, given the increasingly strong global competition, it will certainly be necessary to reflect in terms of planning, investing, and increasing international collaborations that attract students and researchers from all over the world”.

Rankings of the best universities in the world, prepared by one of the most prestigious international ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE), is online as of today, September 2, 2021. Compared to the previous edition, the University of Padua improved its positioning between the best 201st and 250th placed universities globally and moving from fifth to fourth best universities in Italy.
The quality of the result should also be assessed against the increase in the number of universities evaluated, from 1,527 to 1,662 worldwide and from 49 to 51 nationally.
THE ranks universities based on five indicators: Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income, and International Outlook.
The University improved its overall profile score derived by THE's five indicators. The University moved up 15 positions due to results obtained in the Teaching indicator, passing 207th to 192nd place. Then 12 positions in Research, passing 320th to 308th place. In Citations, we moved up 11 positions, passing 289th to 278th place. For Industry Income, although starting from a particularly critical overall position, there is a commendable improvement that bodes well for the future with a gain of 64 positions, passing 780th to 716th place. However, the area of internationalization remains less positive. Despite improvements in the scores obtained and originated by our increased percentage of foreign students, our University has fallen from 616th to 642nd place.
Ranking Commission Coordinator Giulio Vidotto explains, "These results confirm the commitment the University has made over the past six years to achieve an overall improvement under our Times Higher Education’s scoring profile. The University moved up from a 301-350 ranged position in 2016 evaluated against 844 universities to the current ranged position in 201-250 evaluated against 1662 universities. These results confirm the value of the programs launched over the past six years, supporting the quality of research and teaching while highlighting the increased ability to attract funds and financing from the business world. In terms of internationalization, given the increasingly strong global competition, it will certainly be necessary to reflect in terms of planning, investing, and increasing international collaborations that attract students and researchers from all over the world”.
