There is much talk these days about Artificial Intelligence: something like an opportunity but more often as a threat. Yet algorithms and the possibility of having increasingly "intelligent" interfaces capable of learning from their own mistakes also represent a gigantic opportunity for businesses and citizens.
The World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival (WSICF), now in its second edition, is dedicated to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and will be held from 9 to 11 February, at the Palais des Festivals, host of the famous film festival. For three days, the city along the French Riviera will become the world capital of AI: decision makers and representatives within a technologically advanced and innovative sectors will gather. The WAICF is the largest exhibition dedicated to AI, a large delegation from the University of Padua will be onsite as the only university among partners of the caliber of IBM and Huawei. A dedicated UniPD stand hosts eight spin-offs: companies founded by professors and researchers from Padua sharing research results and activities.
The following UniPD spin-offs; Click & Find, Rozes, HIT09, BBSoF, Audio Innova, Mind4Children, BMR Genomics, and Spinlife Srl operate in big data, cloud computing, deep learning, and robotics sectors. The pro-rector for the Third Mission Monica Fedeli greeted participants leaving for the Festival on 3 Friday February in the ancient courtyard of Palazzo del Bo. The event aims to build international relationships with those in the scientific and industrial sector by demonstrating the level of research conducted in Padua.
On 10 February, the Alumni UniPd Association promotes a Live Zoom event dedicated to the role of universities and the stories of Alumni working in the AI sector: "How to impact the society through artificial intelligence?". The final Keynote is entrusted to Federico Faggin, inventor, entrepreneur, councilor of the UniPd Alumni Association and the Federico and Elvia Faggin Foundation President.
