Use the digital credential
The Europass digital credentials are made up of three different parts:
1) Image: This is the typical view of your credential that commonly includes the minimum information about the credential: your name, the title of the credential, and any other information chosen by the creator of the credential;
2) Authentication and verification checks: These checks provide you with information about the validity and reliability of the technical format of the credential and its authenticity. They also give you information on:
- Who sealed the credential (e.g., the University that awarded you the credential);
- If it is linked to a valid accreditation (accreditation is an additional form of quality control that formal learning institutions can refer to if they so wish. In any case, the credentials remain valid without accreditation).
- If someone tampers with the credential, such as changing the contents of the file. In this case, the seal would no longer be valid and the control checks would fail, so that anyone who sees the credential would realize that the content of the credential is no longer reliable.
3) The content: the content of the credential is shown in sections that represent who holds the credential and information about who issued it, data on the outcomes, learning activities, assessments or criteria for which the credential was assigned.
On the left side of the EDC Viewer, you'll find clickable links to access and navigate through these three groups of information. There, you can see the entire content of the credential in addition to your personal data (your name will appear), it can include descriptions of the course you have completed, your grades, learning outcomes, or any other information that the organization that issued the credential has documented in the credential. This additional information allows you to show the details of your studies to potential employers or third parties, who can, in turn, verify your knowledge and skills.
