The JPO Programme is an initiative funded by the Italian Government through the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and managed by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN/DESA).
The Program allows young qualified Italian people to have training and professional experience in international organizations for a period of two years, with the possibility of a possible extension of one year.
The purpose of the Program is twofold. On the one hand, it promotes the cooperation activities of international organizations by associating young officials in development initiatives, and on the other hand, it allows young people interested in international careers to gain relevant experience that in the future could facilitate their recruitment by the organizations themselves or in the international arena.
14 positions were awarded to different entities of the UN Secretariat and 33 to 25 international organizations for a total of 24 locations. 45 positions were assigned to candidates of Italian nationality and 2 positions to candidates from developing countries. Job descriptions of JPO positions for which you can apply can be found on the website.
Applications for participation must be submitted online through the "Online Web Application" (OWA) system of the UN/DESA office in Roma accessible from the www.undesa.it website. It is possible to apply for a maximum of two positions.
