Academic Senate
The Academic Senate formulates proposals and mandatory opinions on teaching, research and services to the student community; it approves the University General Regulations, the University Teaching Regulations and the other regulations concerning teaching and research. It also issues a mandatory opinion to the Board of Administration on the main documents allocating financial resources to the structures (budget estimates, final accounts, three-year planning document, the establishment and modification of courses, campuses, departments and University schools) and on the appointment of the Director General.
The Academic Senate is composed of the Rector, nine heads of department (three heads of department for each of the three broad scientific areas) and nine members of teaching staff (three members of teaching staff for each of the three broad scientific areas), three representatives of the technical and administrative staff and five student representatives.
