Making it easier to make choices

According to Webometrics (July 2021), a ranking that also analyzes web information, there are 31097 universities in the world, over 5000 are located in India, over 3000 in the USA and more than 2500 in Indonesia.
The ranking agencies evaluate only a part of the universities: for example, QS assesses just under 5000 universities, THE just over 4000 universities and ARWU about 1200 universities.
The rankings highlight a further subset: QS ranks the top 1400, THE the top 1250 and ARWU the top 500 universities in the world.
Taking QS as a reference, which is the agency that evaluates more universities, positioning yourself in the top 250 (such as the University of Padua and some Italian universities) means being among the best universities in the world (0.8% or less than the first centile).
The following map shows the percentage of universities, for each country, examined by the international rankings.
