Deputy Rector

The Rector appoints the Deputy Rector from among the full professors. The Deputy Rector shall substitute for the Rector in all functions in the event of absence, impediment, or early termination of office, until the newly elected Rector takes office. Upon invitation by the Rector, the Deputy Rector attends meetings of the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors.

Born in Vibo Valentia on October 18, 1971, Antonio Parbonetti is full professor of Business Administration at the Department of Economics and Management – DSEA of the University of Padua since 2015, he was a research fellow at the University of Pisa and became a researcher in Padova in 2003.

From 2015 to 2021 he was Vice-Rector for Organisation and Management Processes. Since 1 January 2025 he has been the Deputy Rector of the University, maintaining both the position of Vice-Rector for Organisation and Budget and the delegation to personnel and to chair the Employers' Delegation for the supplementary collective bargaining of contracted staff, which he has held since 2021. 

He has held important roles in various institutions, including the presidency of the Paediatric Research Institute and participation in the General Council of the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation.

Particularly engaged in the study of economic and financial crime, he has developed and patented a model to determine the risk of mafia infiltration in companies and is the founder of the innovative startup Rozes Intelligence SRL. His expertise in this field has led him to collaborate with law enforcement agencies and to work as a consultant to the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission.

He is currently a lecturer of "Global Economy and Organized Crime: Economic Profiles and Analysis Models" in the advanced training course of the School of Specialization for Police Forces of the Ministry of the Interior. 

He is the author of over 80 publications, some of which in the most prestigious international journals of Accounting (among them, Journal of Accounting Research and Review of Accounting Studies). His main research topics include the economic consequences of companies infiltrated by the mafia, corporate governance, voluntary and mandatory disclosure and fair value accounting, with particular reference to the banking sector. He has been scientific director of numerous research projects and has participated in editorial boards of prestigious journals, including Contemporary Accounting Research.

He has taught Accounting, Financial Accounting, Business and Organized Crime. He is currently involved in the Anti Money Laundering & Risk Compliance course unit.
