Vice-Rector for Buildings

Graduated cum laude in Civil Engineering at the University of Padova in 1994, he obtained a PhD in Structural Mechanics at the University of Bologna in 1998.

He has been Full Professor of Construction Techniques since 2014. He was Director of the Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering – ICEA at the University of Padova from October 2015 to September 2021 and member of the Academic Senate of the University of Padova from October 2015 to September 2019.
He is lecturer in charge of Construction Techniques and Bridge Design in the Course of Studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Padua. He is a member of the teaching staff of the Doctoral School in "Civil and Environmental Engineering Sciences" at the University of Padova and supervisor of over 20 PhD students and dozens of research fellows.

He is an elected member of the National Council of the Scientific Disciplinary Sector ICAR / 09 - Construction Technique and founding member, as well as referent for the University of Padua of FABRE - Research Consortium for the evaluation and monitoring of bridges, viaducts and other structures in which various Italian universities and research institutions participate.
He is a member of the Commission for the National Scientific Qualification for the competition sector 08/B3 – Construction Technique for the years 2021-2023.

He is a member of various national and international scientific associations and was Chairman, from 2009 to 2014, of RILEM (The International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures) Technical Committee 234-DUC "Design procedures for the use of composites in strengthening of Reinforced Concrete structures".
He has been Chair, invited supervisor and member of the scientific committee of various national and international conferences. He is a member of the Editorial Board of international journals including the Journal of Composites for Construction of the ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers). He is a founding member of the spin-off of the University of Padova UniSAFE S.r.l. He has been a reviewer of research projects on behalf of various international government bodies and is responsible for various national and international research projects and research agreements with public and private bodies on the topics of structural and seismic behavior of complex elements and systems, on the use of innovative and sustainable materials in construction, on the management, evaluation, diagnostics, monitoring and reinforcement of bridges and viaducts. He is the author of over 240 scientific publications indexed on Scopus with over 4700 citations and h_index 40.
