Bruno Mastrotto

Born in Vicenza, Italy, Bruno Mastrotto co-founded the Mastrotto Group with his brother Santo. The Mastrotto Group is a world leader in the manufacturing of bovine leather.

Dedicated to giving back to his community, Mastrotto spent twenty years as the President of a local movement that ensures rights for the sick and ill (Movimento per i Diritti del Malato).   Along with his family, Mastrotto is active in several other social initiatives within Italy and abroad.

In 2016, together with his wife Silvana and their daughters, he established the Silvana and Bruno Foundation as a chance to support the local community.  The foundation created the Parkinson Cafè as a place to welcome the sick and their families, considered an original Italian charitable institution. The foundation continued its efforts by setting up the La Tribù del Sole after-school program of activities for primary and secondary students.

His efforts also include supporting Città della Speranza of Padua and the Montecchio Maggiore Hospital. In response to his commitment to helping others internationally, he sponsors Father Giovanni Gentilin's mission to the Philippines and funds the pediatric ward of Sister Tiziana Maule Hospital in the Ivory Coast i.

His donation of 154,000 euros to the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Unit of the University Hospital of Padua enabled them to acquire an innovative piece of research equipment known as a “light helmet” that produces electrical stimulation to treat one of the world’s most common neurodegenerative diseases.

Bruno Mastrotto has always been a staunch supporter of serving the practical need of scientific research. This particular donation offers support for the scientific activities carried out by Prof. Angelo Antonini and his team of University of Padua researchers.

Thanks to Bruno Mastrotto’s donation we will continue to fight the cognitive decline of Parkinson's with a new helmet that modulates brain alterations.
