Getting around Padua
Padua, also thanks to its geographical position at the centre of the Venetian plain, can be easily reached via the main transport routes; the city also has a well-developed public transport network and numerous other options for getting around the city.
The University promotes various initiatives to enhance sustainable mobility at our university in urban areas by gathering ideas, opinions and proposals from its student community and staff. The aims are to help the city define policies in favour of more sustainable mobility and to contribute to reducing air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
In Padua, a free-floating shared e-scooter service is available, operated by Dott. This type of service introduces an innovative form of mobility that brings positive effects in reducing air pollution and vehicular traffic.
To hire an e-scooter, you need to download the app from the stores (Appstore and Playstore) and register your user profile. The service is available only to users aged 18 and over.
If the vehicle is available, it can also be used without making a booking.
All vehicles are equipped with satellite tracking that prevents theft and at the same time controls the vehicle’s speed by slowing it down in pedestrian areas and prevents the rental from being ended in areas where parking is prohibited.
DOTT electric scooters
The University has also entered into an agreement for students, staff and academic personnel, which provides a 30% discount on the final fare for the use of a Dott electric scooter, up to a maximum of 500 rides.
To benefit from the offer, you need to access the dottpartners.com portal and enter your email address with the University domain, download the Dott app and register for the service; from the app menu, select Promotions and “Add Code”: finally enter the unique discount code received by email.
For further information and assistance during the procedures, consult the website of Dott or contact support@ridedott.com
The marking of bicycles and scooters is a free service provided by the Comune di Padova, consisting of stamping the owner’s Tax identification number onto the bicycle frame and applying an indelible label bearing the coat of arms of the Comune di Padova. In the event of theft and recovery, the police can use this identification system to trace the owners.
It is also possible, if there is enough space on the frame, to mark scooters as well, following the same procedure indicated for bicycles.
The marking procedure is free of charge.
To proceed with the marking, it is necessary to complete and submit the online form and then go to the marking point with:

The urban network of buses in Padua is operated by Busitalia Veneto and makes it easy to reach all areas of the city. A dense suburban network connects the city to the province and to many other places in the region. By bus, it is also easy to reach the Agripolis campus in Legnaro.
In Padua there is an active tram line running north-south, from the residential district of Guizza to the Arcella area, crossing the entire city centre. A second line, from the railway station to Voltabarozzo, is due to be completed shortly.
The tram is also part of the Busitalia mobility network.
With the PadoVia app you can monitor buses and urban mobility services in real time, so you can tell whether the bus you are waiting for is arriving or not. The app was developed by a group of students from Istituto secondario Severi in Padua.
It is possible to apply online for a contribution to be used when purchasing an annual local public transport pass. The value of the coupon/voucher is 200 euros, or 160 euros for beneficiaries of the previous edition of the call issued by the Municipality of Padua.
Students and workers holding a driving licence may apply.
Applications accepted until 12 noon on 31 August 2026, or until funds are exhausted.

QuiBus is an on-demand night bus service created through the collaboration between the University, the municipality and the transport company Busitalia Veneto. The aim is to make the city more liveable at night too, through an initiative aimed both at students of the University and at those living in Padua.
The night buses will cover the municipal area and will be available every day of the week until midnight, with an extension until 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
To access the service, it is necessary to download the QuiBus app and enter the required details. Those studying at the University of Padua will be able to register using their Unipd account; in this way it will be possible to monitor access from the academic community.
Once registration has been completed, it will be possible to book a journey from one week in advance up to 5 minutes before departure. Booking requires the entry of the departure point and destination: the stops provided for the night buses correspond to the stops used daily by Padua's local urban public transport service, excluding tram stops. Access to the vehicle is reserved for registered users only.
The cost of each journey is 2.20 euro, purchasable on the QuiBus app.
