When celebrating graduation, we often overlook the fact that even the smallest gestures can have a negative environmental and social impact.
Plastic confetti and streamers can take hundreds of years to decompose, causing harm to both the environment and animals that might ingest them. Eggs, flour, and other substances used for pranks can lead to stubborn dirt. Before celebrating this milestone with traditional pranks, it's important to be aware of the consequences.
A "zero impact" celebration is possible. If you prefer throwing eggs on the ground, lay down a tarp and try not to create a mess. Use sustainable, environmentally friendly substances and materials. Did you know there are biodegradable confetti, some even made from flower seeds?
Even small gestures matter. Do your part to keep our environment clean.
