DPI - Personal Protective Equipment
According to the provisions of Legislative Decree 81/2008, PPE - Personal Protective Equipment is defined as "any equipment intended to be worn and kept by the worker for the purpose of protecting them against one or more risks likely to threaten their safety or health during work", to be used when risks cannot be avoided or sufficiently reduced by technical prevention measures, collective protection means, measures, methods, or work reorganization procedures.
The provision of PPE to female and male workers/equivalent persons is a process under the responsibility of the individual University facilities, which must arrange for the purchase through suppliers that guarantee the suitability of the PPE (e.g. CE marking, possession of the declaration of conformity) and also establish the procedures to be followed for the return of the PPE at the end of its use.
The delivery of PPE to female and male workers/equivalent persons is the responsibility of the Head of Facility/Manager and must be formalized through the signing of a registration form, for which the templates are provided below:
Please note that:
- PPE delivery registration forms must be prepared on the facility's letterhead, completed by filling in the sections highlighted in yellow in the text (the list of PPE highlighted in yellow in the text of the two templates is purely exemplary: the form must be completed with the list of the actual PPE delivered), signed by the Head of Facility/Manager and countersigned, as receipt and acceptance, by the workers/equivalent persons
- a copy of the PPE delivery registration form must be given to each worker/equivalent person receiving the PPE
- a copy of each PPE delivery registration form must be carefully kept by the facility and, where appropriate, produced upon request by the supervisory authorities.
If it is necessary to provide training on the correct use and practical utilization of PPE, the activity must be formalized by completing the Report concerning the workers' training meeting available on the dedicated page, to be kept together with the PPE delivery registration form.
Training is in any case essential:
a) for any PPE which, pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 475 of 4 December 1992, belongs to the third category;
b) for hearing protection devices.
The University Prevention and Protection Service - SPP remains available for any information on the criteria for choosing PPE and, more generally, for any clarification regarding the provisions of the current legislation.
