The University collects, twice a year, requests from employees relating to the purchase of annual season tickets for public transport for the home-to-work journey in order to promote sustainable mobility.
There are two start dates for annual travel passes: February and July.
Those interested in purchasing, at a discounted rate through the University, the annual season ticket with a start date of 1 February 2026 must submit an application by 18 December 2025 for the following public transport companies:
- AVM (formerly ACTV)
- BUSITALIA (urban and extra-urban transport)
- MOM (Mobilità di Marca)
- TRENITALIA (regional/interregional)
The purchase is made directly by the University, thereby allowing the employee to benefit from the fare reduction provided by the public transport companies on the annual season ticket, namely payment of ten monthly instalments instead of twelve. The cost is then recovered by the University through monthly instalments deducted directly from the employee’s payslip:
- for permanent staff, through 12 monthly deductions,
- for fixed-term staff, through monthly deductions corresponding to the duration of the contract, provided that the contract has a minimum duration of 8 months within the validity period of the requested travel pass.
The application must be submitted exclusively online on the intranet site, which can be accessed by following the path: SIT - servizi personali - link utili alla persona - Welfare, under the item "Trasporti".
For the annual season ticket with the carrier BUSITALIA, the procedure also provides for the issue of the relevant card with the same validity period, whereas for the carriers AVM and MOM applicants must declare that they already hold the relevant card valid for the period for which the season ticket is requested or arrange for its renewal themselves.
Anyone applying for a season ticket with the carrier BUSITALIA and who has obtained the Regional Voucher during this month may attach it in order to obtain from the transport company a reduction in the cost of the annual season ticket.
Informational link for the issue of the Regional Voucher
The Regional contribution cannot be combined with other State contributions or those of other public administrations; therefore, it is not possible to request reimbursement of the season ticket, which has benefited from the Regional Voucher, through the Conto Welfare. The same season ticket is also not refundable by the transport company in the event of cancellation during its validity period.
For further information and clarification, a ticket may be submitted via Help desk to the queue AREA RISORSE UMANE / UFFICIO TRATTAMENTI ECONOMICI E WELFARE / SETTORE WELFARE /TRASPORTI.
As part of the Programma Trenitalia for Business, Trenitalia reserves for the staff of the University of Padua the Welfare PLUS offer, namely a 10% discount valid for the purchase of tickets for the beneficiaries’ private travel with a maximum of 6 accompanying persons.
The discount applies to tickets issued under the Base, Economy and Super Economy offers on Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca trains for all purchases made up to 31 December 2025.
All information is available on the intranet of UFFICIO TRATTAMENTI ECONOMICI E WELFARE - SETTORE WELFARE - under the TRASPORTI section - Programma Trenitalia for Business per i dipendenti
