The City of Hope Foundation promotes and supports scientific research in the field of paediatric diseases, with particular attention to oncohaematological diseases.

The aim is to promote the treatment, assistance and study of childhood diseases, also offering concrete support to the families of young patients.

The Foundation, the University of Padova and the Hospital - University of Padua are linked by management and collaboration agreements, which regulate the use of spaces, the management of research activities and the optimization of resources. In particular, the Foundation provides the infrastructure and organizational support, Unipd contributes with its scientific know-how and its research staff, creating an integrated and highly specialized research center in Padova.

This centre is centred on the Città della Speranza Paediatric Research Institute (IRP), one of the most accredited European research centres of excellence in the field of paediatric diseases. Its laboratories are located in the "Research Tower", a 10-storey building that houses more than 200 researchers and dozens of research groups.

IRP supports, in addition to basic research projects, mainly translational, clinical and interdisciplinary research projects, which integrate different studies and experiences through innovative multidisciplinary approaches.

The Research Tower

The building, designed by architect Paolo Portoghesi, is a sort of condominium in which scientists with different origins and specialties, belonging to both the public and private sectors, coexist and do research with one main goal: the health and well-being of children.
