Miriam Mba Blázquez graduated in Chemistry (specialization in Organic Chemistry) at the Complutense University of Madrid, (Spain) in 1998, got her M.Sc. in Chemistry in 2000 and received her PhD in Chemistry from the same university, working with Prof. Aurelio García Csàkÿ, in 2004. Her PhD research focused on the study of the regio and stereoselective additions of organometallic reagents to 4-hydroxycyclopentenones. She spent a short-time predoctoral stay at the Technological Research Center of Repsol YPF (Spain) where she worked on the synthesis of new metallocene catalysts for olefin polymerization. She obtained a postdoctoral appointment on 2005 at the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padova (Italy) under the European Communitiy’s Human Potencial Programme [AC3S] and later she became “assegnista di ricerca” at the same department (2006-2010). During this period she worked with Prof. Giulia Licini on the synthesis of new transition metal catalysts from polidentate ligands for oxygen transfer reactions. She worked as visiting scholar with Prof. Dean Toste at the University of California at Berkeley (USA) from January to September 2007, on chiral counterion mediated gold (I) catalysis. December 2010 she joined the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padova (Italy) as tenure researcher. Nowadays she works on the synthesis of new conjugated self-assembling organic molecules for organic electronics.
