FERNANDO FORMAGGIO achieved the "Laurea degree" (Master) in Chemistry at the University of Padova in 1985. After serving in the Italian army, he was research fellow at the University of Louisville (Ky, USA) for about two years. He was then high-school teacher of chemistry until April 1990, when he was appointed as research associate at the University of Padova, and later associate professor (2000) and professor (2006).
In 1992 he worked 5 weeks at DSM Research (The Netherlands) to synthesize optically pure quaternary alpha-amino acids, by exploiting a DSM chemo-enzymatic approach.
In 1996 he was awarded the “A. Mion” prize from the University of Padova.
TEACHING
He has been teaching organic chemistry in many Faculties of the University of Padova. He was thesis supervisor of numerous Bachelor, Master and PhD students.
