Virtual International Programme (VIP)
The VIP is a virtual mobility programme organised by the Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen (JLU), Germany, with a permanent offer of activities. It is aimed at students, PhD students of the University of Padua, interested in a virtual exchange experience to integrate their studies.
The general characteristics of the programme are:
- Possibility to choose from a wide range of online courses, from 1 to a maximum of 6, offered by 11 JLU faculties, at bachelor's, master's and PhD levels and in multiple disciplinary areas;
- The languages of delivery are English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Ukrainian and Italian;
More than 50 online courses are available with the following characteristics:
- current courses and new perspectives;
- interdisciplinary courses organized by professors from different areas of study;
- Propensity for interculturality, digitization and teamwork;
- All participants will receive an official Transcript of Records, which will document the credits carried out at the JLU;
- The VIP programme is offered free of charge to Unipd students, PhD students with a diversified, interdisciplinary, collaborative and completely free course catalogue;
- Some orientation events are planned before the start of the semester on April 13, 2026;
- Durante the course there is a weekly accompaniment programme through E-mentoring via email, video calls as well as social events to encourage connections between those who participate.
The programme is open and free of charge for all people enrolled in a Degree Programme or a PhD at the University of Padua. Above all, it is aimed at those who do not yet feel ready for a study abroad experience and who would like to get a taste of an international study experience.
It is also aimed at those who have already carried out one or more physical mobilities abroad and who want to enrich their studies.
It is not possible to participate in VIP courses during a period of international mobility (even virtual).
Participants will have the opportunity to discover the German educational system, collaborate with colleagues from all over the world, deepen topics of personal and/or academic interest, develop intercultural skills.
The VIP takes place twice a year for the winter (October-February) and summer (April-July) semester according to the academic calendar of the Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen.
The enrolment process for the programme is managed entirely by the Justus-Liebig Universitat Giessen. Interested students must fill out the application form by the deadline of 31 July 2026

Applications for enrolment must be accompanied by the certificate of enrolment in English.
Please note: the certificate in Italian is also accepted
No application with Unipd is required for enrolment in the programme, if carried out for personal interest. Only those who wish to request the recognition of credits will have to carry out the procedure on Uniweb as per the instructions they will receive at their institutional email address during the semester. It is recommended to inquire in advance about the rules of recognition of your course of study and check the possibility with the academic coordinator Delegate of the course of study, if necessary.
An information meeting is planned:
- July 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. CEST | in Italian and English | organized by the University of Padua
The recognition of claims is not guaranteed.
- Only modules with credits can be recognized. For credits to be included in the plan it is necessary to obtain a grade, eligibility is not allowed;
- Some courses of study do not allow recognition, others have prepared a specific regulation. We always invite you to inquire in advance about any limitations and rules. In case of doubt, contact the Delegate (academic coordinator) for all information;
- It is the student's responsibility to verify that the credits obtained in virtual mode (with this, other programs or at UNIPD) in their study plan do not exceed 10% of the total credits required for the achievement of the degree (e.g. no more than 12 for the master's degree);
- All those who need to proceed with the recognition must carry out an enrolment procedure and fill in the learning agreement in Uniweb before the end of the semester. Participants will receive more detailed instructions through the institutional email address;
Limitations for some courses of study
- Those enrolled in Human rights and multi-level governance can recognize a maximum of 12 credits as elective exams; all exams taken in the VIP programme must obtain a grade as a result;
- Those enrolled in Local Development and Humanities courses can only recognize exams outside the study plan;
- Those enrolled in History and Historical Sciences courses cannot proceed with any credit recognition.
