Mobility beyond Europe for PhD students with Erasmus+
The University of Padua offers people enrolled in a PhD the opportunity to participate in KA171 Erasmus+ Extra Europe mobility programs, based on specific destinations.
The call is open to all students enrolled in a PhD course offered by the University of Padua.
If, on the other hand, you are interested in Erasmus+ short mobility for PhD students in Europe, consult the phd-shortmobility page.
The mobility programme "Beyond Europe for PhD students" is aimed at all people regularly enrolled in a PhD at the University of Padua who, thanks to the Erasmus+ Programme, have the opportunity to carry out both long and short-term physical mobility periods abroad. You can always add a virtual component to the physical mobility period.
Online applications must be submitted in the periods indicated here.

- The programme is funded by Erasmus+ mobility grants and these funds are not compatible with other European funding, including PNRR, PON, ERC grants and other EU contributions;
- The winner can still participate in the programme by waiving the contribution (Zero Grant);
- Erasmus+ mobility cannot take place at the same time as other international mobilities, both physical and virtual;
- PhD students in co-tutorship with an administrative campus other than the University of Padua will not be admitted.
The application form must be completed exclusively online, by accessing your Uniweb account, selecting the item "International Mobility > Mobility Calls for applications in the menu on the left and choosing the "Exchange Programmes" area, and then "Erasmus+ Beyond Europe KA171 for PHD - 1st call (call 2024 and call 2025)".
The following must be attached to the application (in PDF format only):
1. Learning Agreement signed by the PhD student and both institutions
2. Letter of support from the supervisor of the University of Padua
3. Letter of acceptance from the foreign campus
4. Program of activities to be carried out abroad (courses, seminars, research project, etc.)
5. CV in English
6. Language certificate of proficiency in the language of the destination country and/or vehicular language
The applications received will be evaluated by a special commission on the basis of:
1. Relevance of mobility for the PhD path;
2. quality of the project and objectives;
3. activities of a joint nature or of particular importance for the University.
- In the event of a number of applications equal to or less than the number of places available, the suitability of the application and the project will be verified. In the event of eligible applications exceeding the number of places, the Commission proceeds to draw up a ranking list.
- Depending on the availability of funds, mobilities can be fully funded, partially funded or authorized under the so-called zero grant regime, i.e. without Erasmus+ financial contribution.
Anyone who participates is asked to fill in a Learning Agreement, in which the study programme and learning outcomes are indicated. In addition to the title of the activity, the type of activity and a description for any virtual component must also be indicated.
The recognition of the activity carried out abroad is at the discretion of the PhD course, which provides more information about the selected doctoral students.
