Academic Senate of 16 June 2026

The international Summer School of the University of Padua for prospective first-year students is launched
The University of Padua is expanding its internationalisation initiatives with a new Summer School aimed at upper secondary school students from all over the world.
The initiative, scheduled for the month of July starting from 2027, will offer an immersive one- or two-week experience to get to know university life at close hand, take part in academic activities in English, and explore topics related to some of the University’s disciplinary areas: engineering, psychology, economics and life sciences.
The Summer School has been designed as a first point of contact with the University, with the aim of guiding and preparing future international students through workshops led by University lecturers, cultural activities and opportunities to discover the local area. Planned initiatives include visits to the iconic places of the University and the city, Italian language courses, social activities and excursions.
Each module will allow participants to earn 3 university credits (ECTS credits) and will represent a concrete opportunity to understand the academic standard required by the University’s English-taught bachelor’s degree courses.
The new Summer School forms part of the broader project “Support for the internationalisation of teaching”, aimed at fostering the academic success and integration of international students, while further strengthening the University’s international attractiveness.
Vitaliano Trevisan and Anthony S. Fauci awarded ad honorem titles by the University of Padua
The Academic Senate has approved the conferment of two prestigious ad honorem honours for the academic year 2025/2026: the Master’s Degree ad honorem, awarded posthumously, in Modern Philology to Vitaliano Trevisan and the Doctorate ad honorem in Pharmacological Sciences to Anthony Stephen Fauci.
Writer, playwright and actor, and one of the most original and innovative voices in contemporary Italian culture, Vitaliano Trevisan is remembered for his contribution to literature, theatre and cinema, as well as for his ability to combine research, experimentation and critical reflection across multiple fields of knowledge.
Anthony S. Fauci, among the most authoritative scientists internationally in the field of infectious diseases and immunology, has devoted more than fifty years to scientific research and clinical activity, making a decisive contribution to the development of innovative therapeutic protocols and to the advancement of pharmacological sciences. His work is recognised for its scientific rigour and for its ability to integrate basic research, pharmacological development and clinical practice.
With these awards, the University of Padua pays tribute to two figures who, in different fields, have left a profound mark on contemporary culture and knowledge, embodying the values of excellence, innovation and social impact that characterise the University’s mission.
