Specialisation School for doctors under the current degree course regulations D. I. 68/15

The School in Geriatrics trains specialists who have developed theoretical, scientific and professional knowledge of: the care of elderly patients in all its aspects; normal and pathological ageing processes and the condition of frailty and disability in older people; the demography and epidemiology of ageing; the pathophysiology, clinical aspects and treatment of acute and chronic diseases in older people and of the major geriatric syndromes; preventive medicine, rehabilitation and palliative care for elderly patients; methods of assessment and multidimensional intervention for older people at all points in the service network, also acquiring the ability to coordinate interdisciplinary intervention within the geriatric assessment unit.

The educational activities take place at the facilities of the School's Training network following the completion of the agreements between the University of Padua and the relevant healthcare organisations.
The inclusion of facilities in the Training network requires both ministerial accreditation and the completion of the agreement procedure with the University: only after the agreement has been formalised is the facility to be considered effectively part of the Network. To verify the actual inclusion of a facility in the training network and to obtain up-to-date information on the status of agreements, it is necessary to contact the Short Specialisation degrees Office.

The School has adopted a Quality Policy to ensure the delivery of educational activities through an approach aimed at meeting the needs of doctors in training, teaching and non-teaching staff, with a view to innovation and continuous improvement.   

Since 2019, the Specialisation School in Geriatrics has obtained certification of its Quality Management System, in compliance with standard UNI EN ISO 9001:2015, from an international certification body. The validity of the certificate is subject to annual surveillance and to a full review of the corporate management system every three years.

The School has adopted a Teaching regulations specifying the organisational aspects of the Degree Programme, defined in accordance with the provisions of Article 6 of the Regulations of the Specialisation Schools in the healthcare area with access reserved for graduates in Medicine and Surgery issued by Rector's Decree no. 4208 of 5 December 2019, pursuant to D.I.68/2015.
