A Vision of the Future (?). The Palestinian Question and the Future of Palestinians in the Wider Regional Dynamics

The international symposium "A Vision of the Future (?). The Palestinian Question and the Future of Palestinians in the Wider Regional Dynamics", organised by the Human Rights Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padua, will take place on 30 September at Palazzo del Bo of the University of Padua.

This conference aims to go beyond the dominant interpretative frameworks that have long characterised the analysis of the Palestinian question in its regional context. Its purpose is to reconstruct historical memory, bring the lived experiences of Palestinian communities to the fore, give space to authoritative yet dissenting voices, and invite reflection on what justice might look like, and how it might be built. It poses a fundamental question: what are the present and future scenarios for the Palestinian question and for Palestinians in the emerging context?

The symposium features the following speakers: Honaida Ghanim (Palestinian Forum for Israeli Studies – MADAR and Università di Birzeit), Aya Ashour (Università per Stranieri di Siena) and, by videoconference, journalist Amira Hass (Haaretz), with an introduction by Sara Pennicino, Director of the Master's Degree Programme in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance, and Pietro de Perini, Human Rights University Centre “Antonio Papisca” of the University of Padua.
The discussion is moderated by Lamia Yasin, Unipd PhD graduate, and by a student from the Master's Degree Programme in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance.

The event marks the beginning of the academic year 2026-2027 for the Master's Degree Programme in Human Rights and Multi-level Governance at the University of Padua.
