One year after the death of Giangiorgio Pasqualotto (1946-2025), the Accademia Olimpica is promoting a meeting dedicated to his life and thought. The event will take place on Thursday 8 October at 17:00 in the Sala dell’Ordine dei Commercialisti, at contrà del Monte 13 in Vicenza.

The conference, entitled “Thought and Elsewhere”, opens with greetings from the president of the Academy, Giovanni Luigi Fontana, and is coordinated by Marcello Ghilardi, Olympic academician and lecturer in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Interculturality at the University of Padua.

During the afternoon, contributions will be given by Paolo Lanaro, speaking on Philosophy as a Way of Life; Alberto Giacomelli of the University of Padua, with a contribution devoted to the relationship between Pasqualotto and Nietzsche; Francesco Tormen of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, addressing the themes of Buddhism, epistemology and contemplative studies; and Emanuela Magno of UniPegaso, with a contribution on the transition from comparative philosophy to intercultural philosophy.

Formerly full professor of Aesthetics at the University of Padua, Pasqualotto developed a research path capable of bringing Western philosophy into dialogue with the traditions of Asian thought. Starting from the study of authors such as Nietzsche and Benjamin and the Frankfurt School, his work gradually opened up to engagement with Buddhism and Taoism, with the aim of critically examining some foundations of Western culture.

The meeting therefore seeks to remember the philosopher not only through his scholarly work, but also by showing the continuity of his research in the work of scholars, students and collaborators.

Admission is free until all available seats are taken.
