ADMO Associazioni Donatori Midollo Osseo, to coincide with World Bone Marrow Donation Day, is returning to Padua and the main Italian squares with the event Match it Now, to raise awareness among people aged between 18 and 35 about bone marrow and haematopoietic stem cell donation.
 

Among the events scheduled, on Thursday 1 October ADMO will be at Agripolis for the Career Day, to help people understand more closely the importance of donation.

Unfortunately, bone marrow compatibility within one’s own family is very rare and, in the event of illness, it is almost always necessary to turn to the donor registry, where only 1 in 100,000 may be “the right match”. 

Enormous progress has been made in the medical field, making donation an absolutely safe and not at all invasive process. Bone marrow is not the spinal cord!

On Saturday 10 and 24 October ADMO will be in front of Palazzo Moroni, with the two dates dedicated to Match it Now, with a major awareness-raising event featuring music, performances and testimonies, the closing event of the dedicated month. 

On this day it is possible to undergo the initial screening required through tissue typing: this is a simple saliva swab, after which you can be entered in the Italian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (IBMDR).

To undergo tissue typing, you must be between 18 and 35 years of age, weigh at least 50 kg and be in good health.
