Thanks to its multidisciplinary approach, the excellence developed within its 32 departments prepares a future generation to respond to current and future challenges.
Choose Health
The research we conduct on health concerns prevention and treatment, with a range that exceeds various areas of study including research on cancer, degenerative diseases, and rare diseases. Other areas of study include those that remain underexplored or ignored, as a result, the University launched the WISH – Women Intimate SHelter, research project. This innovative medical research studies the long-term pathophysiological consequences of those who have suffered intimate partner violence, although affecting all genders, the occurrence falls with greater frequency and severity on women. The research project aims to investigate the biological mechanisms that increase the probability of victims developing oncological and cardiovascular pathologies, as well as psychiatric and neurological disorders. The project includes testing novel and specific gender-based pharmacological long-term treatment.
Choose the Planet
The Planet is calling for a green revolution. Such a transformation cannot wait as the data indicates how human activity has negatively affected the environment and the need to intervene quickly to preserve the ecosystem for the sake of our well-being and that of future generations.
The 2018 Storm Vaia, which destroyed an entire forest, has brought forth a proliferation of the bark beetle. Naturally present in these woods, the bark beetle mainly feeds on damaged and fallen spruce trees. The great availability of woody material present and recent meteorological trends have allowed the bark beetle populations to go from an endemic problem to a full-on infestation.
The fight against the bark beetle is one of the many themes on which our environmental research works, not only towards conservation, but also in the development of new materials and innovative solutions in the name of sustainability.
Choose Future Generations
Help us cultivate a better society for future generation through concrete actions guided by universal values such as human rights, peace, and international solidarity. We do this by encouraging research activities and interdisciplinary publications in the field of individual and human rights. We also offer information, education, and training activities that focus on sharing good practices regarding gender equality and inclusion, not only to our community but for society. Our research includes studies on the role of new generations as agents of change towards a more just and equitable society, which contributed to the establishment of Civil Peace Corps in Italy. These volunteers will engage in non-governmental peace actions, and safeguard fundamental human rights for those in areas at risk due to conflict and environmental emergencies.
