This course will provide you with a sound knowledge of the basics of classical and modern physics, with particular regard to quantum mechanics, as well as adequate mathematical training. Great space is dedicated to laboratory activities, which will offer you direct experience of the main experimental techniques and computer science techniques. You will learn how to choose and use the experimental methods fit for problem-solving, and how to develop code and collect and analyse data. You can operate in manufacturing or other sectors based on innovative technologies, in the field of quality control, environment control, radiation protection, data analysis, or devote yourself to research activities applied in the laboratories of research institutions and industrial firms.

Characteristics and objectives
The Course provides a solid knowledge of the foundations of classical and modern physics in the various sectors of physics, from both an experimental and theoretical point of view, with particular regard to quantum mechanics. The course also provides an adequate training on the necessary mathematical tools and computer science elements to develop programming codes. At the end of their studies, students will be able to choose and use the experimental and theoretical methods fitting to the problem to be solved. They will be able to collect and analyze data also by developing specific programming codes as well as carry out an experiment, comparing results to theoretical reference models.

Occupational opportunities
Jobs opportunities come from both the public and private sectors, especially those based on new technologies. Graduated students will be able to work in all areas where skills in data acquisition, monitoring and analysis and scientific dissemination are required. They may be employed in areas concerning quality control and monitoring, health and environment, patenting, safety, radiation protection, and the development of programming codes for data analysis. Furthermore, they will be able to join applied research activities in research laboratories of universities, research centers as well as companies.

From Bachelor's degree to Master's degree
The course provides admission to the II cycle degree in Physics, Physics of Data and Astrophysics and Cosmology, according to the rules indicated in the specific announcements.
