The University of Padova and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) have created a scholarship syllabus to enable talented Chinese students to undertake a syllabus of PhD in Padova.
The agreement between the CSC and the University of Padova was signed in Beijing, at the CSC campus, on 20 October 2014 and was renewed in August 2022.

The scholarships are based on the existing relationship between the University of Padova and China. This syllabus offers Chinese graduates who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential, the opportunity to study for a PhD at the University of Padua. They are jointly supported by the Scholarship Council of China (on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Education) and the University of Padova.

Admissions for CSC Candidates

Applications are open to CSC (China Scholarship Council) candidates for the next PhD cycle, expected around November 2026.

Applicants of Chinese citizenship who are interested in applying for CSC scholarships and intend to apply to the University of Padua, must submit their application to receive a letter of admission to the University of Padova PhD syllabus. You must follow the procedure outlined in the Guidelines to complete the online application form.

Actual admission is subject to the granting of the CSC Scholarship.

Those who wish to apply to the University of Padova outside the UNIPD-CSC agreement must follow the regular admission procedure.

The deadline for applications is December 10, 2025 at 1 p.m.

  • Citizens of the People's Republic of China
  • Students who will complete a second-cycle/Master's degree course by 30 September 2026
  • Candidates with excellent knowledge of English.

The selection procedure will be based on the assessment of qualifications and an oral examination. The oral exam aims to assess the candidates' motivation, their knowledge of the project presented and to verify their excellent command of the English language.

The scholarship covers
A subsidy for average living costs, a round-trip flight from China to Italy, and a contribution to attend conferences. The University of Padova exempts candidates from paying tuition fees, while the amounts due for stamp duty and the regional contribution for the right to study must be paid. Prizes are awarded for the duration of the responsibility for the agreed course fees.
