Nicola Sartori graduated from the University of Padova in 1997 and obtained his PhD in Statistics from the same university in 2002.

He has been Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics of the Ca' Foscari University of Venice from 2004 to September 2010 and at the Department of Statistics of the University of Padova from October 2010 to November 2011. He has been Associate Professor from December 2011 to December 2018. Since December 2018 he is Full Professor.

He is a member of the International Statistical Institute and the Royal Statistical Society and has held visiting positions at the University of Toronto (Visiting Scholar, October 1999 - December 2000; Visiting Professor, October 2018 - June 2019), Northwestern University (Predoctoral Fellow, January 2001 - June 2001), Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (October 2006 - December 2006) and University College London (September 2014 - December 2014).

He is Associate Editor of Stat - The ISI's journal for the Rapid Dissemination of Statistics Research (2015-) and of Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference (2017-).
