Of Italian-German nationality, born in Ebikon in Switzerland in 1962, Stefan Marchioro graduated in Political Science from the University of Padua with 110 cum laude with a thesis on "Legal Aspects of Thermalism in the Veneto Region". After a brief interlude in the health sector and local authorities during which he attended specialization courses at the Bocconi University in Milan, ISAPREL and CUOA, since 1990 he has been continuously involved in tourism, covering the role of Director of the Tourist Promotion Companies of Padua, Terme Euganee, Rovigo, Vicenza and of Tourism Padua Terme Euganee, a special company of the Province of Padua. He was responsible for the Technical-Scientific Committee of an I.S.I.- L.N. 212/92 Ministry of Productive Activities for tourism development in Romania, member of the Technical Committee of the National Association "Città del Vulcano", collaborated in the Agri.Net project of the "Villa Montesca Study and Training Center" of Città di Castello and was consultant of the Tourism Department of the Veneto Region where he currently works as head of territorial projects and governance of tourism.

Since 2003 he has collaborated with the University of Padua and is currently contract professor of Economics Applied to Tourism of the degree course in Planning and Management of Cultural Tourism, member of the Organizing Committee and professor of the Master in "Design of the tourist offer" .
Since 2018 member of the Advisory Board of the BTO of Florence.
Since 2021 member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the ITS Turismo Veneto Academy Foundation.
He has dedicated several publications to the theme of governance of the tourism sector and to the themes of destination management and destination marketing.
