Cristina Stefani graduated in Geological Sciences at the University of Padua in 1980. From 1983 to 2003, she was a researcher of Stratigraphic and Sedimentological Geology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Padua, and from 2010 has been a Full Professor. She has held several teaching courses, including Geology I Laboratory, Sedimentary Petrography, Geology, Geology and Stratigraphy, and Stratigraphy and Sedimentology for a variety of Degree courses (Geological Sciences, Natural Sciences, Cultural Heritage, and Archeology). Her scientific activity has involved several topics, especially the lithostratigraphy of the Veneto-Friuli "molassic" successions and of the turbiditic successions of the northern Apennines and Eastern Southern Alps. In both research topics, she also used the composition of the terrigenous sediments, both in terms of the main composition and as associations of transparent heavy minerals, as a key for characterization and paleogeographic reconstruction, with particular attention to the area-source / basin sedimentation. In recent years, she has also examined the Plio-Pleistocene and present sediments in collaboration with other specialists in the study of the most recent variations in the river flows of the Veneto-Friuli plain and the Northern Adriatic Sea.
