• Honors Degree cum laude in Economics at the Cà Foscari University of Venice, Italy (1985). Research Program in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK (1992-1993). PhD in Public Finance at the University of Pavia, Italy (1994).
• Full Professor in Public Finance at the Department of Economics and Management "Marco Fanno" of the University of Padua. Courses: Public Finance (two courses) and Health Economics.
• 140 scientific publications particularly in two research areas: 1) Health Economics (Economics of ageing; Funding mechanisms of social and health care services; Long-term care); 2) Local public finance (Economics of local public services, Fiscal federalism).
• Director of the Library of Geography, Economics and Management and "Ca' Borin" - University of Padua.
• Editor of the Italian scientific journal “Politiche Sanitarie”(Italian Journal of Health Policy). • Member of the Scientific Committee of the Series “Studies and Research in Bioetics and Humanities” – Franco Angeli Publisher (Milan) and of the Italian scientific journal “Economia e Società Regionale” (Regional Economy and Society).
• Member of the Italian Health Economics Association (AIES) and of the Research Centre of Public Economics (CRIEP) among the Departments of Economics of the Universities of Padua, Venice and Verona.
• Member of the Padua Center for Network Medicine (PCNM) - University of Padova.

Main current research projects:
- October 2020 to date – Member of the research project “Atrial Fibrillation Integrated approach in Frail, Multimorbid, And Polymedicated Older People” (AFFIRMO), Horizon 2020 - Research and Innovation Framework Programme – Local Unit of the University of Padova.
- July 2020 to date – Principal Investigator of the research project “Impact of different healthcare System MOdels and of different COntainment measures on the spread and health outcomes of COVID-19 in Italy and Europe” (MOSSCOV), University of Padova.
- 2010 to date - Member of the International long-term care policy network (ILPN) based in the London School of Economics and Political Science.
- 2002 to date – Member of the Working Group “Health Care”, SHARE (Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe), funded by the European Commission and co-ordinated centrally at the Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging.
