Thesis proposals

Experimental Investigation of a Pump-Turbine at Off-Design Operating Conditions in Generating Mode
In the present study, a reduced scale model of a low specific speed radial pump-turbine will be investigated to identify the onset and development of flow instabilities. Wall pressure measurements in the stator will be performed with the help of miniature piezoresistive sensors to analyse low frequency component at runaway and the instability sources.

Hydrodynamics of Pump-Turbine at Off-Design Operating Condition in Generating Mode
Numerical flow investigations of a radial pump-turbine will be performed under off-design operating conditions, involving speed no load, runaway and “S-shape” turbine brake curve.

Hydrodynamics of Power Pumps at Off-Design Operating Conditions
In the present study, a low specific speed radial pump has to be investigated to identify the onset and development of flow instabilities.

Experimental Investigation of a Pump-Turbine at Off-Design Operating Conditions in Pump Mode
The focus will be put on the generating instability at off-design conditions due to the rotor stator interactions. Wall pressure measurements in the stator will be performed with the help of miniature piezoresistive sensors to analyse low frequency component at runaway and the instability sources.
