Piero G. Pavan received the Laurea cum laude in Civil Engineering (Structures) from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Padua, with a thesis on computational methods for numerical simulation of the mechanical behavior of elastomeric materials. He received the PhD in Structural Mechanics, with a thesis on computational methods for nonlinear dynamics. He works in the field of biomechanics, with particular regard to the mechanics and constitutive modeling of biological tissues. He is currently Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padua and is member of the Teaching Board of the Doctoral School of Industrial Engineering. He is affiliated with the Fondazione Istituto di Ricerca Pediatrica Città della Speranza in Padua, where he is the principal investigator of the Tissue Engineering Laboratory. He is a member of the Interdepartmental Research Center of Mechanics of Biological Materials of the University of Padua and he is a member of the National Bioengineering Group. His most recent research activity is focused on the mechanical characterization of muscle tissues, engineered tissues and biomaterials, through an experimental and computational combined approach.
