Fabrizio Nestola is Head of Department of Geosciences since October 1st, 2018 where since 2015 is Full Professor of Mineralogy. He was Associate Professor of Mineralogy between 2010 and 2015 and permanent Researcher between 2006 and 2010 at University of Padova. Between 2004 and 2006, he was post-doc at the Virginia Tech of Blacksburg and between 2003 and 2004 he got an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship at Bayerisches Geoinstitut of Bayreuth (Germany). Between 2000 and 2003 he was at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as Ph.D. student in Mineralogy. He graduated in Geological Sciences at University of Torino in 1999

Beyond to the Department heading, Prof. Nestola is member of the Academic Senate since November 2019. Between 2015 and 2018, he was Coordinator of the Ph.D. Programme in Earth Sciences and since 2017 member of the board of the Scuola Galileiana
