Degree in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bologna on 07/23/1998 and PhD in "Epizoology, Epidemiology and Chemotherapy of Parasitic Diseases" on 03/12/2002; during PhD, a training period at the “Thad Cochran National Warmwater Aquaculture Center” – “Fish Diagnostic Laboratory” Mississippi State University, Stoneville MS, USA; specialist on "Animal Health, Breeding and Livestock Production" (University of Bologna-administrative headquarters Turin) on 12/07/2004.From 01/01/2003 to 07/31/2004 she benefited from a scholarship to carry out research on parasitic diseases in fish species, at the Ichthyopathology Laboratory (now Ichthyopathology Unit) of the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Animal Pathology (now Dept. of Veterinary Medical Sciences of the University of Bologna. Since 01 /12/2005 to 10/31/2022 she was a Researcher for the scientific-disciplinary sector VET 06 (Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of Animals) at the Department of Animal Medicine, Production and Health (University of Padua), where currently she holds the role of Associate Professor. From 2006 to date she has mainly worked on parasitofauna of cetaceans and sea turtles, as well as waterborne protozoan parasites (Toxoplasma, Giardia and Cryptosporidium), vectorborne parasitic diseases (babesiosis and leishmaniasis) and parasitic diseases in wild animals in captivity. She was principle investigator of the University Research Projects “Parasites, sea turtles and cetaceans: situation in the Adriatic Sea” (CPDA149521/14) and “Assessment of zoonotic risk in confined wild animals” (BIRD200034). She is the author and co-author of 49 papers in international journals and 14 articles in national journals; she also collaborated in the publication of 4 books with contributions relating to parasitic diseases of Mediterranean marine mammals. She is currently Section Editor and Associate Editor for the international journals "Parasitology Research" and "Frontiers in Veterinary Science" respectively; she is Guest Editor of the Special Issue "Health and Disease Monitoring of Turtles and Tortoises" of the international journal “Animals”. She is a member of the Italian Society of Parasitology (SoIPa), the Italian Society of Fish Pathology (S.I.P.I.) and of the European cetacean Society (ECS).
