Giorgia Franchin graduated in Materials Engineering at the University of Padova. In 2017 she obtained PhD in Industrial Engineering also from the University of Padova. During her PhD studies she worked at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab (Cambridge, MA) with the Mediated Matter group. Currently she is Associate Professor at the University of Padova in the Advanced Ceramics and Glass group.
Her main research interests are in the Additive Manufacturing (AM) of ceramic materials. She is working mainly on direct ink writing using preceramic polymers and geopolymers to produce filter, catalyst carriers and bioceramic scaffolds, on ceramic matrix composites and on AM processes for glass production, together with the development of hybrid AM processes.
