In 2012, Riccardo Rainato obtained a master degree in “Scienze Forestali ed Ambientali” (Forest and Environmental Sciences) at the Università degli Studi di Padova, while he obtained his PhD in “Territorio, Ambiente, Risorse e Salute (TARS)” on April 1, 2016 with a thesis entitled “Sediment dynamics in high gradient streams: bedload investigation in two study areas located in Alpine and Andine environments”. During his PhD, Riccardo Rainato was invited twice as Visiting Scholar at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile (Chile). Precisely, in 2014 (4 months) and 2015 (3 months) he visited the Departamento de Ecosistemas y Medio Ambiente, participating as Research assistant in the project Fondecyt 1130378 “Sediment dynamics in Andean Streams” funded by CONICYT (Chilean Research and Technology Funding Agency). Since 2015, he is reviewer for several peer-review journals (Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, Catena, Geomorphology, Journal of Hydrology, Water Resources Research). From May 2016 to December 2020, he held three research grants funded by Università degli Studi di Padova. During this period, Riccardo Rainato was Visiting Researcher at the Universidad Austral de Chile (March 2017) and at the Università della Calabria (May 2019). Since February 2021, he is Topical Advisory Panel Member in the peer-review journal Water (Impact Factor 2021 = 3.530, Quartile Q2 in Water Resources). In June 2021, Riccardo Rainato obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for position of Associate Professor in the sector 07/C1 – “Ingegneria Agraria, Forestale e dei Biosistemi”. According to the Scopus database (April 15, 2023), he has a scientific production characterized by 31 documents, 358 citations, 37 co-authors and an H-index equal to 11.
