Activate conventions

The University can sign framework agreements with other bodies and companies, to develop, in the common interest, forms of collaboration for the development of research programs, training and related activities in order to better achieve their respective institutional purposes.

These are agreements to be implemented in the medium or long term, aimed at establishing a stable form of collaboration between the parties that involves the entire University or significant parts of it. The operational discipline of the agreements usually refers to subsequent specific agreements, which must always refer to the framework agreement in the preamble and must  always be approved by the competent bodies of the parties.

A framework agreement must be presented to the Council and/or Senate if the contents and regulations envisaged for the resulting relationships do not fall entirely within the scope of the autonomy of the individual structure.

If the intention of the parties consists only, more simply, in formalizing in writing the negotiations in progress and the mutual willingness to carry out a specific initiative, it is possible to resort to the letter of intent, i.e. a private pre-contractual deed in which the parties formalize in writing a programme, an ongoing negotiation (especially if it is complex), mutually confirming the willingness to carry out a specific initiative and referring to a subsequent agreement on the definition of the same. The letter of intent aims to commit the contractors to respect good faith in order to ensure greater reliability for the development of the initiative. It is therefore not a contract/convention since, due to its value as a certificate, it does not have the binding force.
