Honorary research doctorates
Among the ad honorem academic titles that the University of Padua confers, the honorary doctorate is awarded to those in possession of a master's degree or equivalent either obtained in Italy or abroad.
The honorary doctorate must have distinguished themselves scientific or through cultural merits recognized internationally and who have contributed significantly to the progress of the disciplines concerning the doctorate awarded them.
The proposal for an honorary doctorate degree is usually presented by the PhD Committee. The proposal must therefore be approved by the Council of the department to which the doctorate refers. In the case of doctoral programs, in international agreements or doctorates, the partnering institutions approval is required.
The honorary doctorate research diploma enjoy all the rights of said degree equal to the qualifications obtained through the usual requirements.
