Each year in Sicily, the University of Padua participate in the 1001 Vela Cup Trophy competition that includes competitive regattas with vessels designed, built and sailed by students. The academic initiative includes Italian and international university sailing teams. Representing the University of Padua is the Metis Vela UniPD team that brings together students from various degree courses to share a collective passion for the sea and sailing.
