A patent is a set of exclusive rights granted by a state to a patentee for a fixed period of time in exchange for disclosure of an invention. It provides the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering for sale, or importing the patented invention.
The University of Padova may apply for patents of researchers’ inventions and licence them for business purposes. Part of the proceeds is due to the inventor.
