Call for admission to the PhD Course in Technologies for Fundamental Research in Physics and Astrophysics for the 42nd cycle

Deadline for submitting the reference letters: 25 May 2026, 1 pm (CEST)
The Call for admission contains general information regarding the PhD Course, the admission requirements, the admission requirements, the procedure for participating in the selection process, and the deadlines.
An information sheet is also available containing specific details about the Course: the available positions and scholarships, the documents to be attached to the application, the examination stages of the selection process, the subjects covered in the examination, a link to the Course website, and relevant contact information.
Also this year accommodation places are available at the "Casa dell'Assistente Prof. Virgilio Ducceschi" and doctoral positions at the Galilean School of Higher Education. In addition, the amount of the scholarship has increased!
After having taken note of the Call of admission and the specific requirements of the Course, it is possible to submit your application through the dedicated online procedure at https://pica.cineca.it/unipd/dottorati-tec/. The procedure is now available.

Following explicit or tacit withdrawal by successful candidates before the start of the course, any vacant places will be assigned to the next candidates in the ranking, according to the criteria set out in the Call for admission.
Should any funded places become available due to withdrawals, the following candidates may apply for such vacant places: applicants awarded a place without a scholarship who submitted their enrolment application within the prescribed deadline; applicants awarded a place without a scholarship who explicitly or implicitly declined enrolment in such a place; and eligible applicants. Those candidates who in the application form indicated that they competed exclusively for unfunded places cannot apply for vacant places with funding.
Vacant Places - Primary phase
Eligible candidates for vacant places will be notified through publication of the list of replacement candidates at the following link: PhDs XLII cycle - A.Y. 2026/27 from July 29th 2026.
Candidates are required to enrol by August 4th 2026, as provided for in Article 9 of the Call for admission.
Vacant Places – Secondary Phase
From August 25th 2026, any further available places will be published, and interested candidates must submit their applications by August 27th 2026 according to the instructions that will be provided. Candidates who have applied for vacant places will be contacted directly by the office and will have to complete their enrolment by September 1st 2026.
Successful applicants awarded a place without a scholarship who, within the prescribed deadline, explicitly or implicitly declined enrolment must also apply for a vacant place if they wish to be considered for a scholarship-funded place that becomes available.
No personal communications will be sent to the candidates.
