Luca Tonin received the Ph.D. degree in robotics from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2013. Since 2024, he has been an Associate Professor with the Department of Information Engineering, University of Padova, Padua, Italy. His research interests include brain–machine interfaces and their application to neurorobotics and assistive devices.
Prof. Tonin won the Cybathlon event in 2019 as co-leader of the BrainTweakers team. He won the Cybathlon BCI Series and the Cybathlon Global editions in 2019 and 2020 as leader of the WHi Team. In 2024, he won the silver and bronze medals at the Cybathlon 2024 event as leader of the WHi Team and the WHi Students Team.
