Silvia Gross is currently full professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Padova, has a second affiliation as a DFG Mercator Fellow at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie and an honorary "Liebig Professorship" at JLU Giessen. Silvia Gross studied Chemistry and in 2000 she was awarded the Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences at the University of Padova. In 2001-2002 she has been a "Lise Meitner Post-Doc" at TU Wien. Since 2021 she coordinates the international Master degree "Sustainable Chemistry and Technologies for Circular Economy". She has supervised 18 PhD students, 12 post-docs and more than 100 Master students. Her current research activity, documented by about 210 scientific publications, 8 book chapters, 1 edited book, 5 patents, is mainly focused on the sustainable low temperature wet chemistry synthesis of crystalline inorganic colloids and nanoparticles, on recovery of critical raw materials by advanced approaches (e.g. deep eutectic solvents) and on synchrotron-assisted investigation of crystallisation mechanisms of inorganic materials under not standard conditions (e.g., confined space).
