She is an Associate Professor of Georesources and Minero-Petrographic Applications for the Environment and Cultural Heritage (GEO/09) at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padova, since 2018. She graduated in Geological Sciences in 1998 and earned her Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the University of Padova (Italy) in 2003. Between 1999 and 2005, she was a visiting researcher at the University of Glasgow (UK) and Cardiff University (UK), supported by fellowships from the A. Gini Foundation, the Italian Society of Mineralogy and Petrology (SIMP), and the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in collaboration with the Royal Society. Her research focuses primarily on the archaeometric investigation of ancient materials, with the aim of reconstructing their provenance, manufacturing technologies, and state of preservation. She applies petrographic, mineralogical, and geochemical methods to the study of ceramics, lithic materials, mortars, pigments, and skeletal remains. Her research also encompasses experimental petrology, with particular emphasis on modelling the firing processes of clay-based materials in both ancient and modern production systems.
