Simone Buso is Associate Professor of Electronics at the Department of Information Engineering, University of Padova, Italy. Born in Padova in 1968, he graduated cum laude in Electronic Engineering in 1992 and received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering in 1996, both from the University of Padova. He joined the university as assistant professor in 1997 and was appointed associate professor in 2007. With over 25 years of experience in research, teaching and industrial consultancy, his work spans advanced digital control of power converters, smart micro-grids, renewable energy systems and impedance-based stability analysis. He has authored 2 books and more than 180 publications, achieving an h-index of 36 (Google Scholar) and over 7,800 citations, placing him in the top 0.15% of the global power electronics research community (ScholarGPS). He has supervised more than 100 degree theses and 8 Ph.D. recipients, and collaborated extensively with international academic and research institutions. A long-standing IEEE member, associated to the Power Electronics, the Industrial Electronics and the Smart Grid Societies, he has received several prestigious awards, including the IEEE Power Electronics Society Best Paper Award (2011) and the Typhoon HIL Best Paper Award Europe (2025).
