Guido De Philippis obtianed his PhD from the Scuola Normale Superiore in 2012, under the supervision of Luigi Ambrosio and Luis Caffarelli. He was a Chargé de Recherche at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon from 2015 to 2016, has been Professor at SISSA (2016–2019) and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (2019–2025), and since September 2025 he is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Padua. His research interests include the calculus of variations, geometric measure theory, and partial differential equations. In particular, he studies the regularity and singularity properties of solutions to geometric variational problems (minimal surfaces, isoperimetric problems, crystals, capillarity problems, etc.). For his contributions he received the European Mathematical Society Prize in 2016, the Stampacchia Medal in 2019, the Feltrinelli Prize in 2021, and the Caccioppoli Prize in 2022. He was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in 2018. He was a Simons Investigator in 2024 and is the PI of the ERC Consolidator Grant "RISE - Regularity and Singularity Issues in Geometric Variational Problems".
