Opening day of the General Course "Human Rights and Inclusion"

With the aim of developing an inclusive culture that recognizes human dignity and the ability for one to seize constructive opportunities in the development in diversity, the University of Padua will begin the fourth edition of the General Course, which is dedicated to human rights and inclusion. The course is not only aimed to the students and faculty of the University, but to the entire community.

Laura Nota, the Rector Delegate for Inclusion and Disability will give introductions; Marco Mascia, Director of the University's Human Rights Centre, will also join in for the discussion; the meeting includes educators and lecturers from the scientific committee who will discuss the topics of the course.

The meeting includes the participation of Carolina Raspanti, an Italian actor with Down syndrome who plays the protagonist in the film Dafne: the film is the winner of an award from the 2019 Berlin Film Festival. The film tells the story of the thirty-five year old Dafne, and her life between work, friends, family, determination, awareness, discovery and knowledge of self-discovery and that of others. The film opened in Italian theatres on March 21 of 2019, in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day.
